September 2013: San Ysidro Trail Work Review

2013-sept-sanysidro3On Sunday September 8, eight SBMTV volunteers rode and shuttled up to East Camino Cielo for the second ride and work  day on San Ysidro.

Thanks to new packable tools including mini-silky handsaws and collapsible handle McLeods and Rogues, we were able to accomplish a substantial amount of brush clearing and dirt work. The trails are extremely dry right now, but we cleared brush, widened the trail bed, opened sight lines, and improved sustainability of the trail.

Everybody then got to show off their bike skills riding down the rocky, technical lower section of San Ysidro. Our dusty and hungry little group enjoyed a much deserved lunch and beer at Natural Café and headed home tired but satisfied after a good day of work, riding and fun.

This event was the second ride and work day led by SBMTV on San Ysidro. We are excited about our new packable tools and looking forward to more such events.

Let us know if you are interested in helping out at the next one!
