We had a fantastic day working on Tequepis trail today. After unloading the beautifully packed Jeep, a safety talk from Lauren and group organization directions from Bela we were ready to set up the trail.
Doug and Bela took about half the crew, loaded up with packable Trail Boss tools, to the top of the trail on mountain bikes. They worked there way down the trail building drainage features, outsloping, deberming and lopping.
The other half set out hiking with Lauren and Chris to the lower and middle sections of the trail. They fixed ruts, built drainage features, debermed and cut back some of the brush.
And, wait, there was another key crew, two small teams of two lead by David and Dave set out with pole hedgers. The hedging crews, hedger and swamper, were able to make it over halfway up the trail and hit key spots and long stretches that were very overgrown with brush.
So, with the three crews were were able to work on many sections from the very bottom of the trail all the way to the very top.
At the end of the day we met back up at the bottom and mingled while we weren’t snacking on our fabulous spread of TJs treats.
Super big thank you to the 27 volunteers that came out today! You guys got a ton of work done. Hope you’re able to get out there and check out the work soon.
Please let me know if we’ve made any errors or if we’re missing any important information from the trail work day.
