On Saturday, October 5th, SBMTV – Santa Barbara Mountain Bike Volunteers – set up for the National and Annual Event: Take a Kid (or MOM!) Mountain Biking Day. Seven volunteers came out to help set up and run the event.
It was a gorgeous blue skied day out at Goleta’s Lake Los Carneros Park. The park has some great loops of dirt trail around the reservoir. It’s easy riding was a perfect place to practice riding on dirt single track and also offered some challenges for our newer riders.
We had a good handful of kids come out and ride, and we were also were joined by local families (Moms too!) out riding their bikes. Both the kids and moms had the opportunity to get their bikes adjusted, tires pumped, and chain lubed by our bike tech volunteer, Lynneal from REI. It was refreshing to hear that biking is such an integral part of some of these families exercise routines. And it was encouraging to see all the smiles as we ended our group rides and conquered new feats.
A big thanks to our volunteers for the day, as well as those who sponsored the treats, drinks and stickers.
Another day full of smiles and bikes.
