Doug Jacobson, President
A native Californian, Doug gained an appreciation for nature and love of the outdoors from his parents. While at Colorado College, he was an avid adventurer, trail runner and mountain biker in the Rocky Mountains. Following college, he shared his love for nature and the outdoors with others as a field science teacher at Nature Bridge in Yosemite National Park. After earning his medical degree from Yale, he studied ophthalmology, with a focus on glaucoma and cataract surgery. He moved to Santa Barbara in 2010 and immediately fell in love with the city, beaches, and mountains. When he is not on the trails, Doug can be seen pedaling around town on his commuter bike, shopping at the farmers’ market, feeding his pet Sulcata tortoise named Tank, or playing ultimate frisbee at the beach. His favorite tool is a packable rogue hoe, and he loves teaching others about sustainable trail design. Doug has been President of the Board of Sage Trail Alliance since 2018.
